Reawaken - Poem

 Reawaken

Soft rise of morning's glow,
O'er crest of distant mountains flow,
Stirs a bundled dreaming sparrow,
   Awaiting dawn's tomorrow.

Sheer blushing wash
   Glimmers through chilled orchard's calm.
Geese glide 'long clear, silken ribbon,
Their flight in new day begun.

God's presence hovers o'er all
   In the still, breathless air.
He lovingly surveys his creation,
   Glorious purpose reawakened.

Palette - Poem

Palette

Saturated puddle of rich, ripe pigmentation
Mop, swirl, plummet then fling across horizon

Dart, pause, hover midst billowy cushion
Enchanting below, textured peaks and ponds with gem potion

True hues shame amateur's trial rendering
Breathless highlight or purple shadow gradually surrendering

To sparkling ribbon strands flung far and wide
Strewn nightglow beckons glorious surprise

Slowly veiled by glistening morning dew
Artist prepares grand canvas anew

Here are a few fall colors we were awed by on our drive to Powder Ridge, above Eden Utah.

Sacramento California Temple - Can I Stay?

Can I Stay?  This is what I felt, while sitting in the Celestial Room of the Sacramento California Temple.  It was so beautiful, neither Bill or I wanted to leave.  It wasn't just the physical beauty of this place that kept us there.  There also existed a wonderful feeling of peace and warmth, that I have come to know as the spirit of the Lord.  The glorious chandelier, the full length windows surrounded in tinted blue, the magnificent arches, all echoed a song of love to and from the Lord.

When God created the earth, he made an especially beautiful garden for Adam and Eve.  There they walked and talked with him, and he taught them.  They were told to tend and take care of the garden, and to have joy.  I believe it is good to enjoy
and create beauty.  In reality we are each given a small garden, or world, to manage: our bodies, our families, our homes and property.  We tend, repair, improve, beautify and enjoy these creations made through God's gift and our own hands.  We praise him through our efforts and are accountable to him for these stewardships.  It is all practice and a prelude for a more permanent and glorious place.

When my husband and I planted two honey locust trees in our front yard, 20 years ago, we prayed for them to grow and be protected.  When they were new, a strong windstorm came up, and Bill and I literally held on to them to preserve them.  Our neighbors laughed at our comical efforts.  I have cleaned and painted every corner of every room in our home.  Bill has tended the yard, tilled and planted tomatoes and cucumbers in our small patch of garden.  We have laughed, loved, cried and pleaded with the Lord, for ourselves and our children, within this small plot of ground.  I pray the Lord will continue to sanctify and hallow this small spot in Eden's former plot.

Dream A Little

The journey my husband and I have been on this year has been most amazing.  I realize we would not have traveled and experienced all we have, without first allowing ourselves to dream a little and then develop a plan to accomplish it.  In the beginning I didn't know how we would find a way to visit so many different places with our busy schedules, plus pay for accommodations for each trip.  I did not know, at the time, that my husband's work would take him on so many trips across the nation.  We have watched for and taken advantage of every opportunity.

Paying for my expenses was a question I took to the Lord.  The idea came to ask my husband's small business, to pay for my expenses when I am with him on his business trips.  Through the years, I have helped our growing company by doing the bookkeeping, without compensation.  It's been both challenging and rewarding, to experience together the financial ups and downs.   Now, I felt there was a way provided for me to enjoy our travel.

I have discovered, the power of faith provides a way forward.  If I dare to dream and plan, a way will be found to accomplish that dream.  No doubt, I am following the Lord's example in this.  In the Pearl of Great Price, Moses 3: 4-7 we learn, first the Lord developed a plan for creating the world, then he set about building it.  First there was a spiritual creation and then a physical one.  It makes perfect sense.

And now, behold, I say unto you, that these are the generations of the heaven and of the earth, when they were acreated, in the day that I, the Lord God, made the bheaven and the earth,
 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew. For I, the Lord God,acreated all things, of which I have spoken, bspiritually, before they were cnaturally upon the face of the earth. For I, the Lord God, had not caused it to rain upon the face of the earth. And I, the Lord God, had dcreated all the children of men; and not yet a man to till the eground; for in fheaven gcreated I them; and there was not yet flesh upon the earth, neither in the water, neither in the air;
But I, the Lord God, spake, and there went up a amist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
And I, the Lord God, formed man from the adust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the bbreath of life; and cman became a living dsoul, the efirst flesh upon the earth, the first man also; nevertheless, all things were before created; but spiritually were they created and made according to my word.

The same principle of faith is necessary when choosing to marry or have children.  Some argue that they can't afford to have a family, or they are frightened by the thought of bringing innocent children into this evil world.  But, like in the movie "Indiana Jones, The Last Crusade", the pathway is often not seen by us, until we take the first step.  But, those who are afraid to step, will never find what lies ahead and experience the miracles available to them.

The way and the means become available along the journey.  To our mortal eyes, not everything is seen in the beginning.  We take a step and walk by faith.

2 Corinthians 5:7 reads,

(For we walk by afaith, not by bsight:)

Sunset

My husband left on a business trip this afternoon.  Seeking to comfort myself, I decided to go for a stroll to see the sunset; something he loves to do.  I grabbed one of his jackets and the camera.  I smiled when I put my hand in the pocket and found some "smarties".

Rocky Mountains - View from Above

Glacier National Park, Montana
Bill riding Gondola, Banff
Banff, Alberta Canada
As impressive as Glacier National Park is, it is only an infant preview of an even grander view of the Rockies Mountains, found in Banff, Alberta, Canada.  There we traveled to the top of a mountain in a gondola, to witness the expansive view of seven different mountain ranges, with trees carpeting the valley floor.  It must have been where the word "Awesome!" was first uttered.

Lake Louise canoe ride
And to top off our experience, we traveled to Lake Louise, where Bill successfully convinced me to paddle into the lake with him, in a canoe.  Emerald green water below a snow white glacier is now a picture, forever, in my mind.

A delicious moment, was stopping back, at Glacier National Park, for a slice of  huckleberry pie with ice cream, on our return trip home.  Bill and I compared it with one of our favorite memories, eating a smoked salmon omelette, at a small street cafe in Paris, years ago!  Yum!

Huckleberry Pie and Ice Cream, Glacier National Park, Montana
Why is it so satisfying to see a place from high up?  I feel I cannot get my bearings until I have stood in a mountain above a city.  My internal compass is not content, and I am lost, until I can see with my eyes, or picture in my mind, the world around me.  Maybe this is the result of having grown up in the mountains.  Even when I lived in Bolivia, as a youth, I was in the top of the Andes Mountains, and could gaze in awe, at the miracles of God's creations.  Perhaps it is perspective I need.  I can see where I am in relationship to everything around me, and how amazingly beautiful it all is.  I feel humble among God's creations.
